At Intergesso, a leading name in the decoration sector using plaster, we have the privilege of contributing to the revitalization of one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks: the Santa Clara Hotel. With a deep sense of pride, the company is a part of this rehabilitation project, adding quality and sophistication to spaces that tell the rich history of this unique site.
The Santa Clara Hotel, located in the heart of Lisbon, is more than just a place to stay; it is a symbol of architectural elegance and the spirit of the city. Situated in the picturesque Alfama neighborhood, the hotel occupies the historic building of the Hospital da Marinha, which dates back to the 19th century, a period when Lisbon was flourishing architecturally and culturally. Throughout its long history, the building has witnessed urban transformations, remaining a landmark and memory point in the city. After decades of evolution, the new rehabilitation preserves the structure’s authenticity while modernizing its facilities to meet contemporary comfort standards.
Intergesso is enthusiastically participating in this project, supplying high-quality materials and applying innovative techniques in their production, ensuring both the preservation of classic details and the aesthetic renewal required by the hotel. The creation of custom plaster cornices for the exterior decoration reflects the care taken to preserve the building’s characteristic features. This is yet another project designed from scratch at our headquarters in the municipality of Seixal, using sourced materials from Portugal and crafted exclusively by hand.
This project represents not only a milestone in Intergesso’s career but also the continuous desire to support initiatives that value Lisbon’s cultural and historical heritage. The rehabilitation of the Santa Clara Hotel underscores the importance of preserving the memory of old buildings while creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for visitors from around the world. Lastly, we extend our thanks to Ecoarea for their partnership and the trust placed in us throughout this project. Soon we will have news regarding this ongoing project.
